Temporary Assistant Professor
Emma Maughan is an assistant professor and the Elementary Education Level II Coordinator. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the Department of Teacher Education and Leadership related to the social foundations of education. Using critical discourse analysis, critical race theory, and TribalCrit frameworks, her research examines historical and contemporary issues in American Indian K-12 and higher education, issues of epistemology in teacher education, and the impacts of race, geography, language, and religion on academic achievement. She has taught and researched in elementary schools locally and in Asia and Latin America.
