Associate Dean for Teacher Education
I am an associate professor in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership. My scholarly work revolves around effective writing instruction. My 13 years of teaching in elementary and middle school have made me passionate about the possibilities for teaching writing effectively and for helping preservice and inservice teachers get more comfortable with teaching writing in a way that scaffolds students so that they are more successful as writers.
I have published articles in Language Arts, The Reading Teacher, and The Dragon Lode. My current project is an analysis of the literacy paradigm embedded in the Common Core State Standards and in curriculum materials that claim to be aligned with the CCSS.
