Social Studies Composite Major
SECONDARY EDUCATION PROGRAM SOCIAL STUDIES COMPOSITE TEACHING MAJOR
The Social Studies Composite Teaching Major is available for persons who have at least a 2.75 career GPA, will complete the Secondary Teacher Licensure Program, and wish to be endorsed for multiply subjects within the Social Sciences. The Social Studies Composite major gives students a Secondary Education Teaching endorsement in History, Geography, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, and Political Science. The Department of Secondary Education is responsible for administration and advising of the Social Studies Composite major. The Secondary Education Program works very closely at all times with the departments offering courses for the major, but does not control the cooperating departments’ selection of courses offered or the scheduling of those courses.
The following is a list of Social Studies courses taught at middle school and high school and the required teaching endorsement. The Social Studies Composite major is a great choice for students interested in having the flexibility to teach a wide variety of courses.
