Elementary Education (ELED)
Welcome to the Elementary Education Program at Utah State University. The Elementary Education Program prepares prospective teachers through seven majors that combine available licensure areas (e.g., Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, and Deaf Education) in stand-alone, dual, and composite degrees. The program emphasizes informed and responsive teaching developed through extensive field experience. Students have an opportunity to bridge into professional practice by getting an early start in teaching endorsement programs and even, potentially, a master's degree program.
Teacher preparation for the various Elementary Education majors in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership is called Bridge to Professional Practice (BPP). Students may complete BPP in one of two lanes: the Licensure Lane or the General Studies Lane. Each lane has differing requirements, obligations, and outcomes. The links on this page provide information about the majors, lanes, and other resources students will need to cross the Bridge to Professional Practice successfully. Students are responsible for understanding and fulfilling the conditions for their specific major, but we have a wonderful advisement staff who are willing to help.
